@edsu Correct, but to me, getting persistent links to "really work" = getting them to work for mere mortals, not just geeks & librarians. ;)

@simonw seems suboptimal to "actively partner" to preserve links and yet not take extra step to avoid people having to hand-twiddle URLs.

@edsu Your solution would require everybody to rewrite all existing tinyurls to point to IA. By transferring domain, you avoid this nonsense
